I specialize in sportfishing which means that I principally fish with artifical lures,live or dead bait. Light conventional tackle is used. Many charter boats mainly wire line troll for bass and blues, unless specifically requested I prefer not to go with such tackle. Generally bait or jigging consist of either drifting or anchoring depending current fishing conditions. This type of fishing requires the customer to definitly get involed with the fishing. This is different then wire trolling where the boat basically drags the baits though the water and hopefully a fish jumps on. If you, the customer need assitance, I am close at hand to be of help. At Montauk striped bass and blues generally feed though the day, however dawn and dusk periods are generally the best. Whether you select a 1/2 day or a full day start, times can be adjusted to fit your needs and consideration for tides, if my schedule allows.

Most bait fishing for bass and blues is done with circle hooks. This is definitly the safest and least stressful on the fish,since 90% of the time the hook is on the side of the mouth and therefore seldom is swallowed by the fish. With the use of circle hooks, it also makes it a lot easier to hook the fish.
